Oh man. You can’t even feel my energy from way over there in the USA, but I am in heaven.
This past Wednesday I had transfers, and man, did I score big. I went from the hottest area in the mission, to the coolest. It’s sooooo fresh here, and so green and so wonderful! There is always wind! WE HAVE TO WEAR SWEATERS AT NIGHT! Oh man. You don’t even know how much I love it.
Even my apartment, it’s a tiny studio apartment, but I still love it! It’s so much cleaner, and brighter, and I just love everything about this area.
There is a bad thing, our lunch apointment is at a bakery, so I am going to gain a ton of weight! Ah! But all is well.
So my companion’s name is Hermana Aguilar, she is from Guatamala, and is super amazing! I love her, but sadly I’m killing her (aka she is going home after this transfer) And I don’t feel like 6 weeks is going to be enough time with her! She is teaching me so much. She gets along with everybody super well, and is really awesome at teaching the lessons clearly and simply. But she doesn’t really give me much room to talk in the lessons, but hopefully with time we’ll learn how to teach together!
She is so funny, and loves animals more than people. It’s pretty great. All the dogs here she has such a heart, but the children? It’s super funny. I love her, and we get along super well. She is very direct, but loving. And it is perfect for my personality as well! I just love being with her.
So yeah! They had a Babtism tuesday, and for the confirmation yesterday we basically staked-out their house from 6:30 am until 9:00 to try to get them to the church for their confirmation… and somehow the husband snuck out and went to Managua… so that was eventful.
So funny story, we have an investigator… who is 35 (and looks about 22) and he is already a Grandfather! How weird right? Just goes to show you how much of a different culture it is here. When people know I’m 20 and don’t have children, they are always super surprised! super crazy…
So I have been reading Our Heritage, which I thought would be so boring, but I am loving it! It brings me to tears every day. No joke. My companion thinks it’s hilarious. But it’s just so moving, the faith that those pioneers had. Super beautiful. I recomend it to all of you!
Having a wonderful time, and for the first time I really CAN wait to go home. Everything in it’s time. I’m loving it here!
So firstly… HAPPY FATHERS DAY! YAY! Pretty sure that don´t have that here… or if they did, nobody talked about it… sorry dads.
So there are transfers this week, but I won´t know until tomorrow if I am leaving or not. I felt pretty good about staying all last week, with Hermana Martinez. I wouldn´t mind another tranfers here with her… but seriously, Sundays drain you. So after yesterday, I´m thinking I might need the change of scenary. But we´ll see!
If I do leave I´m pretty sorry to leave our investigator Deborah. She is super positive, and is probably getting babtised this Saturday. She is reading the BOM and can feel that it is the truth. It´s pretty refreshing to hear her testimony, and pretty humbling that I realize that I had nothing to do with it. It´s her conversion. I just provided the information. It´s really beautiful how she just knows. So that´s pretty great.
I hope you guys had a great fathers day, and gave dad all the love that he deserves! Which is without end! I would just like to publicly announce (here in my private email) How much I love our dad here on earth. Who has given us so much… But also my love for our father in heaven. Who gives us way more than we can ever imagine, or ever give back. Super great.
First is of the babtism of Juan… and I look super terrible in that picture. I don´t know what´s going on with my face… so just ignore that! I´m not going to send it. But it happened!
Second and third, BBQ!
I´m out of words! Love you all lots!
Wahoo! So this week has been super duper long!
So really short today.
So we won the BBQ today! Yay! It’s every month with 5 weeks, whatever zone gets the most babtisms. It’s pretty rare to get more than one… so yeah!
Juan was babtized this last Saturday (the husband to Luisa) so that’s super good. But he still doesn’t really like to talk to us, so it was the Elders who got him to the church. But that’s still good! Yay!
I’m not gonna send photos today, but I’ll send my pictures next week!
I’m sorry this letter is super short. Lot’s of rain. Really hot. Same old same old.
So I think the rainy season is almost officially starting. We have had a bit of rain these past couple of days. So yay! But apprently it never actually gets bad here… because it is like one of the hottest places in Nicaragua!
But yeah. So Miracles first.. WE FOUND MIGUEL ANGEL! YAY! Turns out he has been out of town for a month. So my heart feels so much better. (we had lost him the day after his babtism… pretty heart breaking) but yay! And he went to church, and had a super great attitude. We´re going to work with him more today. YAY!
But this week actually has been super hard. We had this super positive investigator, and we were in a middle of a lesson, that was going super well. When his pastor came into our lesson, and started fighting with us about the Book of Mormon… needless to say the Investigator has been avoiding us… Just makes me so sad. He had explained to us how we had a ton of questions in his life right now, and wanted change… but I guess it just really isn´t his nime. So frustrating! But I am learning patience. The Lord´s timing isn´t our timing.
Been studying the New Testiment a ton, and loving every word. It has really helped me see Christ in everything as well. We were walking around when I stepped into this huge mud pile (obviously not on purpose) and this nice lady brought be water, and towels, and like… Idk. I may be being cheesy. But I felt such joy. Like. This is so cheesy. But when all day we are just being rejected by everybody (example : -Hi what´s your name? -We´re Catholic) But that´s something I love about these Nica´s, is that the majority are trying to live a Christlike life. They are very ready to help… just not really ready to hear the gospel.
Like this fast Sunday for example. It was so funny, we never get offered anything free… until we´re fasting. It´s great. The minute we start fasting somebody offers us drinks, another person is making pupusas and has extras… But this sundaywas good. Juan came to church (hurray) and is all set for his babtism this Saturday! YAY!
Umm… yeah! I´m doing good. This week has been a little rough for me, but hopefully this week is looking up!
1.The minute I finished my laundry…it started raining super hard.
2 We went to the lake today for p.day… and just looked at it
3 Today is the Birthday of Elder Jungers! YAY! He´s 20 (this picture is actually at the top… and doesn´t want to move… so yay!)
So this week has been very full! And very good.
Tuesday I went on exchanges with the Sister Training Leader, and we stopped by the house of Juan and Luisa… and turns out they have been lying to us this entire time! Lying about lying… yeah. Juan didn’t “fall well” with Hermana Martinez, so they had been lying about all of this.. But they still wanted babtism, so Wednesday and Thursday was full of just trying to get the papers for their marriage! Ah! So we spent a lot of time in taxis those days. But Luisa got babtized this past Saturday, and they got married too!
Wednesday we had interviews with the President! (and cleaning checks, we won brownies, hurray!) And the interview went super well… and super fast. I did not really have much to say. But for the interviews we also weigh ourselves… and I have lost 16 lbs since the MTC! So that’s huge…
Happy Birthday big sis! Wahoo! June 1st! And also, happy mothers day! Because Saturday was mothers day here. And actually a really hard day to work. Apparently it is a bigger holiday than Christmas! What?!
So we have a great new Ward mission leader, and things are finally starting to look up with the members.
Questions from Mom!
Q1 Do you use the water bottle the mtc uses?
A1 Yes, but it is really crappy to carry around always. It leaks and stuff, so I only use it at home. And then just buy filtered water.
Q2 What do you have for breakfast usually?
A2 Honestly? I don’t. But sometimes I have crackers… or yogurt… or top ramen. Depends on what I have at the time. And if I am actually hungry or not!
Q3 Is your new comp a hard worker?
A3 She is a way hard worker! She is a really good example to me. Sometimes she works a little too hard, but I am helping her be more lazy 😀
You all need to send me pictures from the reuinion! I am so sad I wasn’t there, But I am sure you all had so much fun!
So I love this Scripture Ezra 10:4 “Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage and do it”
I just love it! Because all of us have things in our lives that we have to do alone. (like live in Nicaragua) but our family is still with us. There to support us. be of good courage, AND DO IT! It is as simple as that. Just do it. It is hard, I know, but do it.
Yep. That’s it! love you all lots!
